Waltham Bicycle Park & Velodrome to be discussed at June 14th City Council meeting.

Let's get cycling back on track.

Waltham Bicycle Park & Velodrome to be discussed at June 14th City Council meeting.

At tonight's Waltham City Council meeting, a resolution will be presented to explore building a bicycle park and velodrome at the 200+ acre Fernald property in Waltham, MA. The resolution will be presented by Councilor Jonathan Paz, with whom we've met on several occasions to discuss the project. Our vision includes an indoor velodrome and community center, an outdoor velodrome, a BMX pump track, a bicycle playground, a 1-mile off-road trail, and a 3-mile paved running and cycling path. Since day one, Councilor Paz has shown tremendous support for our proposal. Here's a link to the City Council meeting docket and here's our proposal which has been presented to the City Council.

The meeting went well, and the resolution was passed unanimously and referred to committee. The next step with the city council is a presentation to the Fernald Reuse Committee. We are beginning a signature campaign next week, and hopefully meeting with Mayor Jeannette McCarthy soon.

Very ambitious project. I wish the best of luck!
